Function
This test is used to detect herpes simplex virus (HSV) in patient samples. HSV analysis by RT-PCR is a sensitive detection method for patients with encephalitis or meningitis. Encephalitis can be caused by infection with HSV I and meningitis can be caused by infection with HSV II.
