Function
This test is used to detect Bordetella pertussis in patient samples. The organism Bordetella pertussis is the most common cause of pertussis, especially in people who are not immunized. This test is also usually done in the last trimester of preganancy. Pertussis or whooping cough (whooping cough) is a respiratory tract infection characterized by a paroxysmal cough.
