Cystatin-C


Function
This test measures the level of the protein cystatin C in the blood. This test is a sensitive blood test to determine kidney health. Cystatin C levels can be used to calculate GFR. If cystatin C levels in the blood are high, it can indicate a kidney disorder, such as chronic kidney disease. High levels of Cystatin C can also be caused by diabetes, cancer, HIV, hyperthyroidism, or hypothyroidism.
