Function
This test measures the level of CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) in the blood. This examination aims to monitor the results of therapy in several types of cancer, such as cancer of the colon, rectum, prostate, lung, breast, liver, pancreas, stomach, and ovaries. Elevated levels of CEA can also occur in several other non-cancerous diseases such as liver cirrhosis, non-cancerous breast disease, emphysema, and IBD.
