Manganese (Mn), blood

Function
This test measures manganese levels in the blood. This examination is helpful in determining the cause of some Parkinson's-like central nervous system symptoms as well as for monitoring therapy in cirrhotic patients on parenteral nutrition. Manganese is found in abundance in the mining industry. Industrial workers are at risk of exposure to manganese mainly through inhalation.
