BRAF Mutation (V600E)

Function

BRAF mutation assays are used to indicate BRAD mutations which are frequently found in melanoma (50-70%) and in papillary thyroid cancer (36-69%). BRAF mutations were also found with lower frequency in colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), glioma, sarcoma, breast cancer, hepatoma, and ovarian cancer. BRAF mutation analysis can be used as a standalone test for therapy selection, or as an adjunct tool (along with RAS mutation analysis) to identify metastatic colorectal cancer patients who can undergo EGFR therapy.
